Money doesn’t follow value…
Money is value.
Money is literally the stored value of your resources such as…
Time…
Money…
Knowledge…
And…
Relationships.
And just because you are “giving value” doesn’t mean…
You are going to get paid “money”.
I think we can all remember a time where we gave a tremendous amount of value…
And didn’t get anything in return.
Even if we were expecting to get something.
The feelings that overcome us when…
We thought we were going to get that huge bonus because we worked extra hard…
And…
Nothing.
That time we thought we were going to get that promotion because no one else put in more work…
And…
Nothing.
If you have ever experienced this or something similar you know the feelings I am talking about.
Maybe you were told…
“If you work hard you can have anything you want”…
Like I was.
And then I remember feeling like I was lied to because I couldn’t work any harder…
And I didn’t have what I wanted.
The thing I learned that they forget to mention…
Or maybe I didn’t hear…
Was…
Value turns into money through a conversation and a transfer of value called an agreement.
If you don’t have an agreement with someone else to exchange value there is no amount of value that is going to get you paid.
However…
Most of the time we all just do a bunch of assuming…
And never talk about the details of the business…
Or potential business.
This is why it is important to know what the people need and what they are willing to pay for.
Once you understand that you can then develop yourself in the skillsets to solve their problem.
And then create an agreement to…
Get you paid!
It really is that simple.
Don’t over complicate it.
And don’t be afraid to ask to get paid when the time is right.
Cheers to your next agreement to get paid!
